Meet Merix: Michał - Sales Representative

Michał is one of Merixstudio's sales folks. He's been working with us for not that long time, but we've already got to know him quite well. I associate Michał with three basic things: soccer, craft beers, and Bukowski. He is from Poznan, so nobody will be surprised when I say that he loves Lech Poznan (we all, Poznan people, have the same). I was not satisfied with this piece of information, so like Varys from Game of Thrones I lent an ear to my little birds. I found out that Michał really likes cooking and he for sure isn't a vegetarian ('meal without meat makes no sense' is his motto). Besides, Michał is interested in History (especially of the WW II), and he used to play in a band! In a nutshell, I can say that Michał is a typical guy: he likes good sport, good meat, and good beer... a lot of beers ;)

  • Tell us something about yourself.
Michal Fryderyk Lisewski, born 03.10.1989 in Poznan, Poland. Master of journalism and mass communication. 186cm (6’1’’) tall, eyes blue, hair blond, blood type AB Rh negative. ;) Besides - a person with a humanistic background - I like music, movies, and books.
  • What are your main responsibilities at Merxistudio?
I’m a sales representative - my primary task is to seek new, interesting clients for our company.
  • How do you work? What is important to you while working?
I would separate my duties into two main parts: communication and research. The first one requires soft skills and knowledge, second - patience. I try to prepare best I can for every call. From day one I noticed that there is no successful project without communication. Every client has different needs and deserves for truly custom treatment. When it comes to research, during these long hours there are always some Queens of the Stone Age, Metallica or other band on my headphones. :)
  • Tell us something about your beginnings in the company.
I've been working in Merixstudio since may 2016. My main tasks have been clearly explained during the recruitment, so I wasn’t surprised with my duties. One of the first difficulties which I had to deal with was a plethora of data to collect and adopt every day. I also suffer due to lack of feedback from the clients.
  • What have you learned while working in Merixstudio?
In general - working in Merixstudio is a learning process. From the very beginning, I was impressed how much time co-workers spend on gaining their skills, and how much management cares about our development.
  • What do you like about working at Merixstudio?
It’s a great opportunity to gain your skills, learn something new, finally - use them in a practical way. What is more important, we’re talking about knowledge from different fields. Not just geeky stuff, but also about work planning, soft skills, etc.
  • What was the biggest challenge you faced while working at the Merixstudio?
I think that the biggest challenges are about to come.
  • What cool things have you worked on at Merixstudio?
All of the outbound campaigns dedicated to companies with high-level awareness such as German startups, or English game studios. Besides reaching CTO’s of these companies I had a great opportunity to learn how they work, what is their structure, and so on.
  • When did you make a decision that you want to work in IT?
My first contact with the Internet took place around 1994. As a great enthusiast of science, my dad preferred to spend money on new PC rather than huge TV set. These days downloading Lion’s King wallpaper took like 2 hours, and later I had to remove it from my screen anyway because computer worked slower...
  • What do you think is most difficult (and most interesting) in your work as a Business Developer?
Like I said, the best thing is fact, that every day you can learn something new. I also appreciate the fact that every day I can talk with people world-wide. Biggest difficulty? Always the same: find 1000, speak to 100, sign 1.
  • The first thing you do when you arrive at the office.
I take off my shoes and wear slippers.
  • iOS or Android?
I’ve been trying to avoid smartphones as long as possible. At the moment I have Android, and I didn’t notice any problems.
  • What do you do in your free time?
Despite shyness, I’m a social person, and I spent a lot of time with my friends. Recently I read a lot. My idol? Bukowski, even if it’s a bit inconvenient to call him an idol.
  • The best hero from your childhood is...
Batman. Superhero with no super powers. Comparing to other franchises like Superman or Cpt America, Batman with his Gotham were the darkest.
  • Where is your favorite place in Poznań?
I wouldn’t like to favor only one pub ;) I like the Old Market. And Freedom’s Square. And Sołacz. And probably 1000 different locations.
  • Beer or vodka?
IPA - India Pale Ale :)
  • Sports?
There are tree games I like to watch: soccer, soccer, and soccer. I attend to a gym.
  • Dog or cat?
I’m a dog person with no time to keep an eye on one.
  • Which website do you visit the most?
    Probably transfermarkt.de
  • Favorite app.
    Probably Messenger.
  • The light or dark side?
Depends on where the beer is.
  • If you could only visit one website for the rest of your life, what site would that be?
I would turn off my computer.
  • If you could have your dream job, what it would be?
    Novel writer.
