Building a business insurance app for an US-based company

00:00 → 00:02

We're an insurance agency.

00:02 → 00:05

We're from, you know, United States and Utah.

00:05 → 00:07

And as an insurance agency,

00:07 → 00:08

we represent a lot of different insurance companies,

00:08 → 00:12

and we also sell insurance products for insurance

00:12 → 00:14

companies, which we sell to our clients,

00:14 → 00:16

our business customers across the country.

00:16 → 00:19

And so the system that we need is a management system to be

00:19 → 00:21

able to handle all of the different projects that we

00:21 → 00:23

have, the different tasks, activities,

00:23 → 00:27

a lot of different workflows and processes that are included

00:27 → 00:30

in the managing of insurance policies for our different customers.

00:30 → 00:33

I've worked with a lot of developers in the past.

00:33 → 00:35

For the past eight or nine years,

00:35 → 00:37

I've been working with an offshore development team over

00:37 → 00:42

in India, and I I grew tires tired of

00:42 → 00:44

the process to develop anything.

00:44 → 00:45

Was

00:46 → 00:47

it was yeah.

00:47 → 00:50

I I there was a lack of input.

00:50 → 00:52

I there was a lot of work on my end to be able to build

00:52 → 00:55

everything out for them, and it it described things very,

00:55 → 00:56

very specifically.

00:56 → 00:58

And so when we searched for a new provider,

00:58 → 01:00

we didn't want to look in India,

01:00 → 01:02

so then we started looking elsewhere.

01:02 → 01:04

We actually ended up looking in America first.

01:04 → 01:07

We tried working with a couple local shops,

01:07 → 01:09

that did not end up working out either,

01:09 → 01:11

so then we started to do a lot more research,

01:11 → 01:14

we found that Europe in general actually had the best

01:14 → 01:16

programmers in the world based on different various reports

01:16 → 01:19

that are out there and so we focused on Europe.

01:19 → 01:21

We were going between Mareks and a company out of Ukraine

01:21 → 01:24

and also a company out of Russia And, ultimately,

01:24 → 01:27

what what happened was we really liked the proven

01:27 → 01:28

processes that Merixstudio had in place.

01:28 → 01:30

We liked the documentation that they had.

01:30 → 01:31

We liked the formal process.

01:31 → 01:34

We really liked the idea of a workshop and being able to have

01:34 → 01:36

these conversations and discuss everything,

01:36 → 01:40

so that's when we ended up working with Merrick's and choosing them.

01:40 → 01:42

And then going through with the workshop,

01:42 → 01:44

I was really we were all very excited about it.

01:44 → 01:46

We liked the idea of doing it in person.

01:46 → 01:49

I felt like they would be, much more

01:50 → 01:50

efficient.

01:50 → 01:51

We could save a lot of time.

01:51 → 01:55

We could be able to expedite the process and and really get

01:55 → 01:59

the project off and and and working very well from the very beginning.

01:59 → 02:02

The workshop has made me it's made me actually understand

02:02 → 02:04

understand my application better than I have in the past

02:04 → 02:08

twelve years from using it, so,

02:08 → 02:11

going being forced to go through and do story mapping

02:11 → 02:14

and doing sketches and discussing the very specific

02:14 → 02:16

workflows is extremely beneficial, it's very

02:16 → 02:19

helpful, so that was a very very big eye opener.

02:19 → 02:22

It's also helped everybody else learn the application a lot

02:22 → 02:23

faster I've seen.

02:23 → 02:25

I've had these conversations with other programming

02:25 → 02:28

companies and they tend to not really catch on to not only our

02:28 → 02:30

application but the insurance industry and I feel like

02:30 → 02:32

everybody here has been,

02:32 → 02:35

they understand not only our application but the industry as

02:35 → 02:36

well which I think is very important.

02:36 → 02:39

Everybody has a unique, look.

02:39 → 02:42

We have front end user interface,

02:42 → 02:46

We have back end graphic design and then project manager.

02:46 → 02:49

So we have one person for every little facet of the the man the

02:49 → 02:54

project, and everybody is giving very, good advice,

02:54 → 02:56

good opinions.

02:56 → 02:58

It's been very, very beneficial.

02:58 → 03:01

I absolutely think it's a good way to start the development process.

03:01 → 03:02

Like I said before,

03:02 → 03:05

we've had other developers that don't do workshops.

03:05 → 03:07

It just takes longer to get get up and going.

03:07 → 03:10

And I think coming here actually was even better.

03:10 → 03:12

I think it's gonna expedite the process.

03:12 → 03:15

I think everybody will save time and money doing this this way.

03:15 → 03:18

So really, if possible, you know, come to Poland.

03:18 → 03:19

Enjoy Poznan.

Let's connect and build together
