As you know, we were abiding by the social distancing rules since the beginning - we very fast switched to fully remote work to ensure both our and everyone else’s health and safety. But I would be lying if I said that we didn’t miss the office. We’re very proud of it and of the atmosphere we’ve created when working together. After all, when in the office, we often hang out together, play games, or simply have banter between tasks. That why, while still remembering about our safety, we’ve opened our office for those who no longer want to work from home. As you can see in the photos, it was a good decision! ;)

Every Monday, you can meet us and learn more about who we are. And I’m not talking about our informal meetings (which you can always attend - just contact our HR team!), but about #MeetMerix series on Facebook and Instagram! At the beginning of each week, we introduce one person and tell you more about their role in our company, their passions and hobbies, and how they influence our group while working together. That’s why in July you were able to meet Karol, our video wizard and future award-winning cinematographer; Piotr, the sportiest dad on the planet as well as a skilled PM and a chef; Dorota, a carer of plants that will never allow fora wilded greenery; and Róża, one of our Gdańsk residents and a work-and-travel aficionado. As you can see, we’re quite a diverse bunch, which I, of course, think is a huge plus - thanks to that, there’s always something new and interesting you can learn when hanging out with your colleagues!

Working hard even in the summer

Ok, in both previous points I talked about hanging out in the office and getting to know each other. But what about work - do we have time for it between all those extracurricular activities? Of course we do! For instance, in July we published a case study for Ginny, our mobile app for dynamic parking management! With the use of Python, Flutter, Flask, Go, and Dart we created something that for sure will help us when all of us are back in the office! So if you’re interested in learning more about the obstacles we had to overcome while working on Ginny, the reasons behind choosing this specific stack, and much more, check out the “Work” section on our website

Haaave you met... our PMs?

Speaking of working hard, let’s talk about of Project Management team! In July they were the stars of our #Code series of articles, in which we tell you more about how we work at Merixstudio. After all, the IT industry is so much more than only developers - we believe in collaboration between different specialists and think that only then you can ensure that you’re creating the best possible version of your project.

So, let’s talk about PMs! They are certainly one of the busiest bees there are, constantly managing a variety of different tasks! This doesn’t mean, however, that they don’t have time to constantly broaden their skills. We don’t know how they do it, but they’re constantly telling us about yet another certificate they obtained! But don’t listen to me, check out the article written by Magda and Kasia to learn more about how our Project Managers work, how they are able to stretch time to meet their needs, and how you can join them. All of that if quite a useful knowledge if you think about joining their group - after all, we’re in full recruitment mode, so read the article, check out our job offer, and apply!

And the Oscar goes to...

I just told you that we’re recruiting plenty of people at the moment. At the beginning of this summary, I also told you about Karol, our personal Spielberg. Combine those two facts together about you won’t be surprised that in July we showed you not one but two videos about the specific roles in our company. We introduced Python Developers and shared with you how they were able to develop their skills at work and the challenges they met along the way. You were also able to meet our Engineering Analysts, Marcin and Andrzej, who sat down to describe what their jobs entail, what their future teammates should know, and which qualities they should have as EAs. Sounds interesting? Watch the videos, check out our Python Developer and EA job offers, and join them in their quest for the best projects!

Listen carefully!

You know very well that we have a podcast, Piątki po Deployu, in which every other Friday Miłosz, Mateusz, and their guest share their knowledge on everything related to development. In July we published three episodes, in which we talked about:
- React and React Native: web vs mobile,
- the best hardware for developers,
- CQRS - what it is and which projects it suits best

Not a fan of Spotify? You can also listen to our podcast od Apple Podcasts, SoundCloud, and YouTube!

I also couldn’t also mention one episode that was published in August - if you’re from Poland, you probably heard about a little problem encountered by the mBank team. Well, if you did, then you will probably be interested in the newest episode of Piątki po Deployu, in which Miłosz talked with about Adam Szajder from mBank, who told us all about the behind-the-scenes of this situation. How did we manage to book such an interview? Well, I’ll tell you that in my August summary, so see you then!
