Some time ago in our #MeetMerix series you had a chance to meet Luiza - the Leader of QA Team. Today we are pleased to introduce one of her colleagues - Dorota. Dorota loves dogs, what is clear as soon as she spots one on the street. Every day at the specified time she can be seen in the office dining room, where she eats lunch and plays with the other fans of card games. Dorota is also the only female brave enough to compete in the company's FIFA tournament!
- Tell us something about yourself.
Sometimes calm, sometimes nervy.
- What are your main responsibilities at Merxistudio?
As a QA Specialist, I’m responsible for the quality of the projects and verification of their specifications. I submit bugs to developers and verify the fixed ones.
- How do you work? What is important to you while working?
My work on the project usually starts with the time valuation, reading the documentation and changelogs, which is a kind of diary where you can note any changes made in the project. After that, the next steps depend on the project.
- Tell us something about your beginnings in the company.
I acclimated quite quickly (thanks to my lovely colleagues;)). For me, the biggest novelty was the diversity of the projects I'm working on. In one day I have the opportunity to check, for example, design, Frontend and Drupal project.
- What do you like about working at Merixstudio?
Exciting projects, a clear division of labor and a great sense of humor of my coworkers.
- What was your first contact with web technologies? When did you make a decision that you want to work in IT?
I started working in the IT industry by accident. I was studying History and Archiving and during my fifth year, I applied for the position of the tester of a system designed for the electronic handling of documentation. I had the interview and a week after defending my thesis I started work.
- What do you think is most difficult (and most interesting) in your work as Quality Assurance Specialist?
The ability to predict the behavior of the end user - this is probably the most difficult for me. After all, not everyone acts in the same way as me (though it would seem that there is no other way to act;)).
- First thing you do when you arrive at the office
I water flowers and make a large cup of coffee :)
- iOS or Android?
Android.
- What do you do in your free time after work?
In my spare time, I usually listen to music, practice playing guitar or read books. If I have time I watch current affairs programs :) I also like to travel.
- The best hero from your childhood is...
Marty McFly from Back to the Future. It is also my favorite film trilogy -I watched each of these films too many times to count. No one probably will be surprised that I am looking forward to October 21, 2015.
- Beer or vodka?
Still mineral water in large quantities :)
- Favorite sport.
I'm more of the anti-athlete type and I’m not good in many sports. However, sometimes I go to the pool, so my answer has to be swimming :) In the winter I like to skate, so I frequently visit Malta or Chwiałka ice rinks. I don’t watch a lot of sport on TV because I get easily bored by them.
- Dog or cat?
Dog, preferably German shepherd or Newfoundland. But an "ordinary" shelter mutt would be great too.
- Which website do you visit the most?
Wirtualna Polska - I like to know what is happening in Poland and all over the world.
- If you could only visit one website for the rest of your life, what site would that be?
Google.com, because it offers the most opportunities ;)
- If you could have your dream job, what it would be?
I would probably work at an animal shelter or be a veterinarian. I could also work in a candy store :)
