Spooky season in software development - summary of October

Plenty of things happened during October. Not only we traveled around Europe but also worked hard on our evolving office space by introducing new, fun rooms. We, obviously, also worked hard on exciting projects for old and new clients, partied, and invited you to Małachowskiego - check out the summary to learn more about it!

It’s time to get spooky! 👻Last Saturday, our merry bunch went all out when it comes to Halloween celebration 🎃 - Andersia, where we held our party, was filled to the brim with people dressed up in a Hollywood theme! Where else you could’ve spot Joker 🃏chatting with Audrey Hepburn 🛍️ and Eleven 👱‍♀️ from Stranger Things dancing with masked robbers from Money Heist🏦! Our party also gave Jack Sparrow 🚢 a chance to join force with Wednesday Addams🕯️ to win a Halloween-themed pub quiz. And we don’t need to tell you that the party was fun, it’s clear when you check out the pictures taken during the party! 📸 . . . #aboutlastweekend #friday #halloween #halloweenparty #costume #besttime #party #andersia #officeparty #poznan #afterhours #colleagues #fun #happy #happy #webdeveloper #webdev #webdesign #design #programming #programmer #developer #webdesigner #designer #websitedesign #programmerslife #coding #reactjs #development

Let's start the summary with the October staple - Halloween party. As usual, for our software house it means a plus-one costume party! This year our theme was Hollywood, which could be understood either by glamming up and getting red carpet ready, or channeling main characters from our favorite movies and tv-shows.

It surprised no one that the majority of us stepped up to the challenge! What's more, some did such a good job that they were unrecognizable when in full costume! But dressing up was not the only entertainment - after exercising our brains during the Halloween-themed pub quiz (do you know what's the Wilhelm scream?) we spent the night dancing, chatting, and having fun - all ingredients for a great party. ;)

Every day is a #TechDay when you work in a software house

In October, we once again found ourselves traveling abroad. This time Michał, Rory, and Karol flew to the capital of England to participate in TechDay London, an international startup event that's also held in New York and Los Angeles. TechDay is a perfect opportunity to network - it gives its attendees a platform to seek investment, mutual support, and continuous growth. What's more, this year it was also held in Old Billingsgate, a venue that's only 50 meters away from the banks of the River Thames. Talk about combining work with pleasure! But don't take my word for it - check out Rory's summary of their trip to learn what they did (and which pub they visited) in the foggy London town!

There's something for everyone in our new office!

If you think that Rory, Michał, and Karol were lucky with them leaving the office to travel abroad, you didn't take into account how many new things we introduced in the office. With our additional office floor, we were able to either add new spaces or transform the old ones. With that, there are two unique rooms. You can go upstairs if what you crave is relaxation - in Zamek, you will find not only comfy armchairs with a great view but, most importantly, a massage chair!  Some people say that developers are getting spoiled by their employees. We say that they get what they deserve. ;)

If relaxation is not your cup of tea, you can always head downstairs, where you can have an adrenaline rush while trying out the racing simulators we installed in our gaming room! With the custom murals drawn on the walls by talented Paweł Stepanow, there's no way you won't feel like one of the stars of Fast and Furious series. ;)

Welcome to our new office, students

Yo obviously know about Dev College, our frequent, whole-day development workshops. In addition to that, from time to time, we also organize Dev College Combo, where we prepare not only workshops but also presentations. With Dev College Combo more of you can learn from our talented developers, designers, QA specialists, project managers, and more.

This time, however, we introduced some new things to otherwise tried and trusted recipe for Dev College Combo. First of all, we held it on the newest floor of our office, where we have a special conference room that's perfect for presentations and comfortably fits quite a big audience. In addition to that, similar to front.radar and py_tej, we also broadcasted the presentations live - this way, if you wanted to spend your Saturday in pajamas, you could learn something from the comfort of your home. But that comes with its own price, since when watching from home you can't each free pizza, drink beer, or play at the aforementioned racing simulators. ;)

The ten-year cooperation with Bronson Vitamins

My summaries sometimes may paint a picture that all we do is slack around. I understand - from the article so far, it looks like we spent October sitting in massage chairs of having parties. But, as always, I have to remind you that we work hard to play hard! The proof lies not only in our Clutch reviews but also in our ongoing projects. Last month we proudly showed you the details of our cooperation with Bronson Vitamins, our long-time customer that we have the pleasure to work with for over ten years. Recently we worked on the redesign of their store, which coincided with the update of the store engine to Magento 2. Want to learn more about it? Check out the article that Piotr wrote about our cooperation and watch the video above!
