As I’ve mentioned last month, we decided to add a frontend counterpart to Django Hotspot events. This month we introduced the public to front.radar - our new initiative that focuses on the community surrounding everything related to the frontend. On the 25th of October, we gathered in Alibi.Club, where three experienced Frontend Developers (among whom was our own Mateusz Anioła) talked about their craft. We were happy to find out that Poznań’s IT community really felt the need for such a meetup - around 100 people attended the first edition of front.radar, what prompted us to start organizing another one as soon as possible. Stay tuned!
Get the London… code?

Autumn really got us in a mood for a good cup of tea. Always striving for the best, some of us decided to get it in in the world’s capital of an afternoon tea - London. Or maybe we’ve simply had some meetings with our clients and I’m just reaching... Who knows? ;) The fact is, four of us traveled to the UK last month - Marcin and Marcin (the more Marcins in our software house, the better) left Poznań to work with Moneyfarm, while Magda and Sławek met up with some clients and attended a startup meetup. They obviously enjoyed their trips, but we’re happy to have them back!
Spooky Merix, happy Merix

When we’ve held our first Halloween party in 2017, we didn’t know that we started not one, but two traditions. First one is that Halloween parties are the most fun among (many) others we have. The second is that Piotr will always win the costume competition. No matter how hard you try - this guy is going to sweep the prize from under your nose! But he has every right to do so - check out the Facebook album and try to find out how he dressed to impress!
We’re armed with knowledge and are not afraid to share it!
London is not the only place where you can find interesting events. That’s why this month we’ve attended, among others, Meet.js conference (shown above), Polish Tech Night in Berlin, and Coders Lab’s 5th birthday celebration. In addition to that Miłosz (Backend Team Leader) talked about Python bots at Kariera IT event, while Michał (Business Developer) discussed the influence of digital technologies on European democracies during his EuropX presentation at Business Link. As you can see, we were quite busy - luckily we still found time for software development!
No plans? No problem!

Ok, you may think - some people went all over the world while others had to stay bored in the office and hustle. Come on, man, is it your first summary? Obviously, we’ve had some fun in the office this month! Apart from people bringing sweets and cakes to celebrate their birthdays and anniversaries at Merixstudio (winter is coming, we still have some time before we start working on our 2019 beach bodies), we were also visited by a cute, yet short-legged visitor. Hefajstos, being a good guest, made sure that we were properly fed by checking out what everyone had for lunch. What would we do without him?
Experience the UX
Last but not least, this month we informed you about the upcoming workshop that our UX Service Designer Maria will conduct at the World Usability Day conference. Being the UX boss that she is, Maria will talk about designing the gamification process. And being conscious of important world issues, she will base it on making a website connecting people interested in environmental protection, improving the standard of living, and working on technologies useful to humanity. She will share her knowledge on November 17th - feel like a hero and since up while you can!
What's more?
As you can see, I was not lying when I said that we’ve had our hands full! However, we’re obviously not stopping in November - apart from Maria’s workshop, we can already let you know that this month you can visit our office and attend the 3rd edition of Dev College Combo! Stay tuned for more info - the registration starts sooner than you think! See you on November 24th!
