MERIXSTUDIO befriended some wolves: about our visit at Wolves Summit conference.

As a company that is in business since 1999 we are far from calling ourselves a startup. At first we thought that we will not fit well with newly created companies. However, our worries were completely unfounded - the agenda was devided into 5 categories form which we could pick adequate for our needs. As Merixstudio representatives were our colleagues from PR team, naturally they were interested in topics such as managing social media and reaching out to the media. From long list of meetings they attended we picked two that were, in their opinon, most impressive and were recounted in the office for a very, very long time :)

Łukasz Żelezny, who descibed himself as a very handsome Apple freak, holds the position of the Head of Organic Acquisition at uSwitch.com, a UK based price comparison website with offices in London. Leading his team, he is responsible for the uSwitch.com brand’s organic visibility, conversion rate, traffic and engagement. It only took us a minute of his presentation to know that this is a man who does not go to work with only a sense of buty, but because of the great interest in the subject. He introduced us, among many other, types of users of social media and ways to successfully interact with them. We also talked about pros and cons of the biggest social media sites and how to engage customers in company's online activities. However, what was particulary captivating was the lecturer himself, who combined practical information that were based on his experience with witty and easy going way of presenting it. We can only hope that it was not our last encounter with this charismatic enthusiast of online marketing technologies.

In addition to the lectures Wolves Summit offered a variety of workshops. The one that especially distinguished itself was conducted by Daniel Kędzierski, CEO of FastTony. Their tool, named after ingenious seller from Ice Age animation, helps in creating personalized forms of promotion on Facebook and reaching precise customer. For those, who use this popular site only for private purposes, information presented during the workshop could be quite shocking - you can choose a target group who will recieve your ad with very high precision or greatly modify the status you show on page (using for instance Flash technology). Within two hours of the course we were able to practice our skills in local advertisment of Facebook, Custom Location Ads and Local Video Ads. Unfortunately, FastTony tool is not the cheapest one, but it will definitely help with large advertising campaigns. It for sure opened our eyes to how much you can do on Facebook to stand out from the crowd.

Wolves Summit it's not just lectures. It's also the opportunity to networking and to show yourself and yours company. Organizers put a lot of emphasis on startups and investment themes. You could take part in competition for startups - The Great Pit(ch). The winner of that contest is Ourtech which got 50 000$. In addition to tech and sales issues organizer also interested in the polish wolves problem. The aim was to collect 5000 PLN. What is really interesting, to encourage to participate in the collecting money, for each whip-round proper awards were matched. And it worked because the collected amount was higher than organizers wanted.

The Wolves Summit 2015 was an inspiring event, from which came a lot of knowledge and new ideas. Congrats for organizers! We look forward to the next edition.
