Meet Merix: Ania - Communications Manager

It's time to introduce you to another female of Merixstudio! Ania always has a head full of ideas thanks to what she perfectly fulfills the role of Communications Manager for GoDealla project. Ania spends a lot of time on managing social media profiles and searching for great bargains - it is not surprising that he knows everything about anything and that is our Sales Queen.

  • Tell us something about yourself.
Sometimes prudent, at times spontaneous, a fan of people with a great sense of humor. I have a hundred ideas per hour, but most of them will never be implemented because I'm already occupied with next ones. I like to keep myself up to date (both regarding major world events and the less serious news, which some would call gossips;) ).
  • What are your main responsibilities at MerxiStudio?
It's quite complicated - I work as a Communications Manager, not in Merixstudio, but for GoDealla.pl and Wakacje z procentem, which are a part of Merixstudio's portfolio and are managed entirely by our software house. Together with the team we create and realize the strategy of marketing communication, take care of our social media and manage the content on our websites (apart from the already mentioned ones we also have the GoDealla's blog that is functioning as a separate brand - Gdziepromocja.pl).
  • How do you work? What is important to you while working?
The most important for me is the atmosphere - it's a cliche, I know, but if I'm not comfortable at work, I'll be focused on getting through the day and running home as soon as possible. However, if I am surrounded by people with whom it is easy to get along, who are happy to share their experience and who really like what they do, then it's much easier to get involved and "feel" the projects, and its eventual success becomes a personal ambition.
Equally important for me is room for maneuver, which I undoubtedly have at MerixStudio. If I come up with some idea, I share it with the team and (if it is considered good), we are immediately turning it into action I know that in some companies it's not that easy: you might need ten acceptances and six signatures even to start thinking about doing something innovative. For us, fortunately, it's not a problem.
  • Tell us something about beginnings in the company.
In October, it will be two years since I started working at Merixstudio. GoDealla was growing fast, and the team of copywriters needed some help, so they hired new employees. Monika had joined our company only two weeks before I did, so I was not alone in being "the new one": together we got to know the company, the people and the rules (do not feed the troll ;) ). Along with the development of the portal came the increased scope of my responsibilities and I became a Communications Manager.
  • Have you learned something while working at MerixStudio? What?
A whole bunch of stuff! Working here is my first "real" job (CV to Merix was, indeed, the only one that I've sent after graduation). I was totally anti-IT. I was not familiar with new technologies and thought that that knowledge was unnecessary for me - my work was dedicated only to promotional activities. But you can't work in a software house if you are not interested in projects implemented by your colleagues. Now, thanks to the two years of experience, observing the work of others and a receiving a lot of help from, among others, Developers (hello Milosz), I can see a big progress in this area. Importantly, it also helped me in my daily work: it is easier to plan activities in the field of internet marketing when you know a bit about Web technologies.
  • What do you like about working at MerixStudio?
As I've said before - a large room for maneuver and ability to do something on my initiative, as well as the lack of corporate rigidness and working great people with whom I became friends during the office parties (which are paid for by our boss!).
  • What was the biggest challenge you faced while working in the company?
Each big project is a challenge for me because it gives me the opportunity to learn new things and tools. I came here to work as a copywriter and today I can create a very basic mock-up websites, simple banners, I also attended many meetings and negotiations with partners. I hope, however, that the biggest challenges are still ahead of me - it would be boring not to have opportunities to learn new things.
  • What do you think is the most difficult part of working as Communication Manager?
In this profession, as well as in many others, it's important to not to be convinced of your infallibility. When it comes to communication with users (direct or indirect), the "I know more than you" attitude can be particularly harmful - not only for the company's image but also for your professional development. You have to be open to new possibilities, listen to what others say - it is not always easy, but it's a basis of the effective communication.
  • What's the first thing you do when you arrive at the office?
I put my slippers on ;)
  • iOS or Android?
Android (I didn't have many opportunities to use iOS)
  • What do you do in your free time after work?
I like to read and watch TV shows. Unfortunately not the polish productions - among my favorites are Sherlock, Peaky Blinders, Game of Thrones, Downton Abbey, Skins.
  • The best hero from childhood is...
I loved every character from the books/cartoons of my childhood: Sailor Moon, Karolcia or Nicholas and his friends from René Goscinny books.
  • What is your favorite place in Poznań?
Stairs in front of the Opera.
  • Beer of vodka?
    Wine.
  • Favorite sport?
I'm far from being a sports fan. I like to watch some matches from the time (live or transmissions), I have my favorite team, and I know what offside means, but I'm not an expert - it is not my passion.
  • Dog or cat?
    Cat.
  • What website do you visit the most?
Facebook and Pudelek, the Polish website dedicated to celebrity gossips (I'm not going to lie, I visit this site almost every day for ten years, luckily it usually end on reading titles and leads).
  • If you could only visit one website for the rest of your life, what site would that be?
Google - then I could also visit other pages! It's a small cheat, like asking goldfish for more wishes.
  • If you could have your dream job, what would it be?
    Chief Editor of Pudelek ;)
