We said goodbye to Summer in a very fitting way - by hiding in the pub and playing games all night! Our growing bunch went to Cybermachina, where we not only enjoyed their vast array of different consoles and board games but also held a pub quiz. With that, everyone could prove that they know our software house like the back of their hand (as well as have some understanding of politics, sport, pop culture, and many other pub quiz categories). Of course, there are no Merixstudio parties without pizza - winter is coming, gotta work on the natural heating pads!
Web development powered by… pizza!

Yes, the integration party was not the only time we ordered a pizza. Or rather a shedload of pizzas… But the occasion was more than worthy! On September 13th was the 256th (hexadecimal 100th, or the 28th) day of the year, which is internationally celebrated os Programmer’s Day. And when it comes to programmers, we have plenty of them! ;) That’s why all of us took a little break from work to celebrate our web developers - they deserve some recognition!

Oh boy, writing this summary I realized that we were celebrating quite a lot this month! We also worked really hard on broadening our portfolio, I promise! We just couldn’t do nothing on the 30th of September, which everyone in Poland celebrates as Men’s Day. This day is all about showing some appreciation to the guys in our lives. And since there are plenty of them in Merixstudio, we decided to bring many sweet treats (no more pizza for a while;) and create a raffle! Each guy had to draw a number that was corresponding to a fun gadget and, as you can see in the photos, it was met with quite an enthusiasm. Mission accomplished!

The previous three points showed quite clearly that we’re not scared to indulge a little bit. Some of us, however, are responsible and combine it with a sport, what can be proven by how many people from our software house attended this year's Business Run! As you know, this initiative combines three noble causes - promoting the health benefits of working out, integrating local business, and, most importantly, raises money for charity. All of them really close to our hearts!
We have frontend on our radar (and Django on our hotspot)!
You know Django Hotspot (next meeting will be on the 10th of October, so see you soon!). You also know Dev College Combo. Now it's time to get to know front.radar - our new initiative that focuses on the community surrounding everything frontend-related. The first meeting will be held on 25th of October and include 2-3 presentations and networking. Of course, it will also be free and open to everyone - if you've ever attended Django Hotspot, you know what it will look like. ;) So follow front.radar on Facebook and stay tuned for more info!
Want to party? Gotta learn first!

Ok, we’re not coercing anyone to learn by threating to cancel the parties. There’s no need for that - everyone in our office simply likes gaining new knowledge! That’s why this month we’ve learned about, for instance, the DISC behavioural model. And as you can see in the photos, our PM, Sales, and UX teams couldn’t complain that they were bored. Apart from learning, they also took part in some unconventional activities- who said that leveling up can't be fun?
Lights, Camera, Action!
Last month I’ve shared with you that we were working on a secret project. Now the cat is out of the bag - we were filming an interview with one of our favourite clients, Linda Grönlund from Fair Photo Agency! Our Business Developer Michał talked with her about our joint project - how it came about and why trust and transparency are the basis of great cooperation with software developers. Check out the video to find out what she had to say!
That’s not all! Right now we’re working on many other secret projects - maybe’ if you live in Poznań, you saw some of us running around the town and snapping photos of its most iconic places. We’ve also done some shopping this month and I recommend stopping by our stall if you are at the conferences we’re attending - you won’t be disappointed! If you’re reading it in the day this summary was published, you can say hi to Natalia, Anita, and Miłosz at the PyCode Conference - they’re there until Wednesday!
