Django Hotspot #5
A post shared by MERIXSTUDIO (@merixstudio) on Feb 27, 2018 at 7:11am PST
Let's start with the biggest thing that happened this month - Django Hotspot! The fifth edition of our Django community event, as usual, gathered plenty of people interested in Python Development. This time we were talking about creating the DRF Tweaks library and how developers can improve their productivity - big thanks to Paweł Krzyżaniak, Martyna Wilkońska and Przemysław Gosek for their presentations. You can check out either the live coverage or the short video summary of the meetup on Facebook, as well as read more about the whole series on our blog. But remember, you will get a free beer if you show up at Nova Piwiarnia, so see you next time! ;)
Valentines Day has never been cuter!

Guys, you know we love dogs. They may not share our programming passion, but they are great companions when we're working on a project. And with the approaching Valentines Day, we thought about those pooches that are not as spoiled as the ones that visit us in the office. So we decided to skip gift exchange and instead gather some money to create a package for a shelter. This time we chose the Azorek shelter from Oborniki, a town near Poznań, which was a great idea - Anita and Ola, who delivered the gift, were even able to take some of the dogs on a walk! There couldn't be a better way to spend this love-dedicated day!
In addition to that, we also wanted to do something for each other, so we decided to continue the tradition of Valentines mail we established last year. Judging by the amount of (anonymous or not) messages we exchanges, we seem to truly like each other!
Celebrating the third love of Merixstudio - food
A post shared by MERIXSTUDIO (@merixstudio) on Feb 8, 2018 at 7:00am PST
After web development and dogs, the third place on the podium in our hearts must be taken by food. It can be sweet, savoury, cheesy, or even healthy. The only requirement is that it needs to be tasty. That's why this month we've celebrated both Fat Thursday (as seen in the video above) and Pizza Day. We may regret it in the bikini season, but it's too cold at the moment to worry about it! Let the eating commence!
What's Merixstudio without a little party?

The last party we've had was the Christmas one, so at the beginning of February, we were simply aching to go out together. That's why on the first Friday of the month we went out to 8stóp to play billiard, drink a beer, and exchange office gossip. There's even a video to prove it! The hardest of players even stayed for the afterparty and invaded the town. ;) Let me tell you this - it was a good thing that the next day was Saturday! ;)
Moving pictures are the best kind of pictures

This month out PR department was quite a busy bee with all the event it organised, but it didn't stop us from creating a buttload of videos. There were ones for Fat Thursday, Django Hotspot, Valentines, you name it! After all, it's awards season - maybe we've felt a bit inspired by the approaching Oscars?
Nobody expects the Spanish.... conference?
A post shared by MERIXSTUDIO (@merixstudio) on Feb 15, 2018 at 5:51am PST
Well, nobody expects it if they are not following us on social media! Or HR Manager Maciek left us (what's more, he left us on Valentines Day!) to visit his beloved Barcelona. However, he didn't have much time to sightsee since he was preparing for his presentation at the 9th HR Minds Future of Talent Forum. Maciek was part of a great crowd - other speakers were people from Google, Amazon, and even NASA! But I don't want to speak for the guy - check out his summary on our blog to find out what this conference was all about!
Working hard is not hard when you love what you do!

I've started with talking about our love for what we do, so I need to end with it! Obviously, to ball hard, you have to play hard, and that's what we did this month! One of the things we're currently working on is Up Your eGame, an easy-to-use platform built for and driven by the gaming community. On our Instagram, we've already shown you part of this project - the logo and animation. But stay tuned for more awesome things!
