Meet Merix: Michał - Business Analyst

Michał is our Business Analyst and works with our savvy sales team. Very often you can see him beating out a rhythm with his fingers and feet. It’s probably a habit he picked up playing the guitar. We haven’t had a chance to hear his music yet; I can imagine that it’s heavy, dark music that he's also listening to every day. Some of my little birds call it “satanic type of music”. But look beyond the surface! Michał is eloquent, hardworking and helpful. I was told that recently he got trained in foosball game and because of that Magda started to lose against him right after she came back from holidays. She’s a lady! Let her win, you scoundrel!

  • Tell us something about yourself.
Professionally, I represent Merixstudio among business partners from all over the world. Then, I torture my beloved fiancée by playing an instrument - often for many hours. Sometimes I rest.
  • What are your main responsibilities at Merixstudio?
I hold the front line, and I’m responsible for the first contact with Merixstudio’s client. I’m here to analyse their needs, requirements and project idea. Also, I select the right set of tools to achieve goals together.
  • What is important to you while working?
I try to use my time as productive as possible. Prioritisation plays a significant role in my workflow. I like to have a clear roadmap, and before I send any email, make any call or go to any meeting I set a clear goal to achieve. It’s important to me to fulfil my role at the highest and international level. I also try to don’t leave any room for mistakes.
  • Tell us something about your beginnings in the company.
I joined the Merix sales team in February 2018, and the first thing that hugely impressed me was the transparency in its purest form - without any ifs and buts. What also really knocked me out was work culture and focusing on achieving goals - I mean healthily. We respect each others' time here, and we make effective use of it.
I got into my new responsibilities with the help of Kamil, the Team Leader of the sales team. He dedicated me a lot of his time in the first month of my work here (thank you very much for that!). I also have to mention the rest of the sales crew - they always are extremely helpful. Honestly, this kind of onboarding processes is pure pleasure. With that help of team I quickly started work on my own, and with joy, I dived into the deep water.
  • What have you learned while working in Merixstudio?
The prioritisation, which I think is necessary. The efficiency and concentration - every my task has got settled deadline or someone is waiting for its results. The dependence of work - my job will be always strongly linked with what many other Merix folks do. I can’t put myself first.
  • What do you like the most about Merixstudio?
The feeling that hard and efficient work will always be appreciated. It’s the best motivation for me. At Merixstudio, we all celebrate each other's’ successes together because we’re the team and play together. I’ve seen teams that forget about this rule, but not here.
  • What was the biggest challenge you faced while working at the Merixstudio?
I think that I can mention working with almost only foreign clients. Before, I didn’t have much experience in the international selling. There are many differences in the approach to IT in different regions, but it’s something that I need to take into consideration all the time. I find keeping the highest quality of cooperation and communication challenging, especially when faced with language barriers or what I talked about before - approach differences.
  • What cool things have you worked on at Merixstudio?
It could be this talk. I was told that I would be a superstar after publication.
  • When did you make a decision that you want to work in IT?
It was a spur-of-the-moment decision. And, honestly, I’m not sure why I made that decision. I found the software industry complicated and diverse, and selling software sounded like a challenge. I started two years ago when I knew nothing, and also I didn't know what exactly I was doing while making first calls...
  • What do you think is the most difficult (and most interesting) in your work as a Business Analyst?
Being an analyst and salesman at the same time is the most difficult and the most interesting thing. You need to display highly analytical skills, have a vast knowledge of digital products as well as have the nature and approach of a salesman. You sell incredibly complex solutions which you need to understand to be effective. I heard that this kind of skills is hard to mix.
  • The first thing you do when you arrive at the office.
    I put my headphones on.
  • iOS or Android?
    Android.
  • What do you do in your free time?
Home is the best place to rest for me. I like to organise a contest who will call the police because of the loud music faster - my fiancée or my neighbours. Every day the winner is different.
  • The best hero of your childhood is…
Jar Jar Binks. He’s an absolute nincompoop, but he deals with different things pretty well. Now I feel the heresy.
  • Where is your favourite place in Poznań?
Mine and my fiancée brand new flat!
  • Beer or vodka?
Beer is excellent stuff to drink for a hangover after drinking vodka.
  • Dog or cat?
Bulldog. It’s something between dog and hamster. Super funny creature. I recommend having one.
  • Which website do you visit the most?
    YouTube definitely.
  • Favourite app.
Metronome or Google Play Music. Skycash is perfect for public transport stuff and paying for car parking. 9gag for wasting time. I think that we should cover in gold Google Maps creators.
  • The light or dark side?
The dark one. Dark characters have better histories and are incomparably gritty. Unless we're talking about the new, Disney productions, then there’s no right answer for that question.
  • If you could only visit one website for the rest of your life, what site would that be?
    YouTube.
  • If you could have your dream job, what it would be?
Well, far be it from me to idealise what I have on the horizon, but I’m completely happy with what I have right now. I can say with a clear conscience that I like what I do every day, and I do what I want to do - at work and after it.

We’re always looking for awesome, talented people to join us. Check out job offers, send your resume and find the right place.
