Hello Autumn, hello cozy web development - summary of August

A smashing job you did, Tomek!

Lest start reminiscing about August with the thing that happened two days before it started - after all, summer is all about breaking the rules! And this thing is more than worthy of reminiscing, it's not every day that your article is getting published by Smashing Magazine! Big kudos to Tomek, one of our Developers, who penned (keyboarded?) a great piece about converting a Flash game into HTML5. It's filled to the brim with useful advice and guides readers step by step through every important aspect of the transition. And let's be honest, such advice is certainly needed - who needs Flash games when there's HTML5 around?

You better work, girl!

As you saw in our Stories, last Saturday @ale_przybylska attended a @django.girls workshop - supporting this intiative is what we're proud of, even if it requires waking up early on the weekend ;) . . . #workshop #django #djangogirls #djangogirlspoznan #womenintech #girlswhocode #womeninstem #girldeveloper #stemwomen #pythondeveloper #events #techevent #programming #programmers #worldofmerix #webdeveloper #webdev #website #programming #programmer #developer #programmerslife💻 #programmerslife #coding #development #softwarehouse #poznan #poland #merixstudio #ITindustry

As you know, at Meixstudio we like events. Not only we organise Django Hotspot and DevCollege Combo, but also support many great programming initiatives. And if you remember my piece about Women in IT that was published on Mam Startup and our blog, you know that encouraging women to join the IT industry is what we're all about! That's why for the second time we've decided to sponsor and support Django Girls Poznań, a non-profit organization that organizes free workshops for women interested in learning how to code. This time we couldn't send our mentors (more about that in the next point), but it didn't stop us from attending. So this month you might've seen me on Politechnika among th group of many women wanting to learn something new on a Saturday morning. Good job, ladies, get that education!

There's no such thing as too many conferences

A part of our #Python team is taking part in #PyConPL2018 conference. This is a great opportunity to learn from the best but also to meet each other! You can find us in conference rooms as well as near to our stand. Come and talk! . . . #conference #merixteam #pythondeveloper #software #softwarehouse #conferencelife #events #techevent #programming #programmers #merixstudio #come_and_talk #find_the_right_place #wearehiring

And why didn't some of our Django Developers attend Django Girls? Well, together with Anita and Natalia from PR and HR teams they were at Rawa Mazowiecka at PyConPL'18! Not only they were able to learn something new when attending presentations and workshops, but also could share some knowledge too! The Team Leader of the Django team, Miłosz, conducted a presentation about what will happen when you stop programming. Sounds interesting? Well, you can watch it on our Facebook and find out for yourself what hides behind this enigmatic title! And don't worry about the tilted screen - it's fixed in almost no time!

Secret projects and dogs

Another reason for enjoying Friday at work? A visit of one of our favourite clients, Linda and Alex from @fairphotoagency!📸 But we did not only have a chat☕ and walked their lovely dog 🐶- some secret projects are brewing that you will soon know more about! 🤫 Stay tuned! . . . #collaboration #working #photography #clients #bestday #secretproject #businessdeveloper #startup #berlinstartup #softwarehouse #merixstudio #itindustry #poznan #webdeveloper #webdesign #programming #programmer #developer #djangodeveloper #pythondeveloper #programmerslife #coding #code #python #development #webdev #webdevelopment #webstagram #developer #developerslife

But what about the office - were we stagnant this month? Come on, obviously not, I thought you know us! Among the things that happened this month was a visit by one of our favourite clients, Linda and Alex from fair photo agency! And to make matters even better, they brought their very cute dog, who patiently waited for his owners to finish working like a good boy that he is. After taking the stroll around the office, of course, what was warmly welcomed by everyone. His patience gave Linda and Michał some time to work on a secret project, about which you will know more sooner than you think - stay tuned!

Sometimes even a wall can make you happy

This #GeekShirtFriday has some elements that were not previously published on our profile....🤔 Is it the newest addition to our #PR team, @pat_uszak, in her #cowboybebop shirt?🤠 Well, sort of, but there's also a big wall behind her and Michał that you haven't seen! And #spoilerallert - it will be soon displayed at the upcoming #PyconPL.🐍 The wall, that is 😉 . . . #SpikeSpiegel #anime #HajimeYatate #ShinichirōWatanabe #softwarehouse #merixstudio #itindustry #poznan #webdeveloper #webdesign #programming #programmer #developer #djangodeveloper #pythondeveloper #programmerslife #coding #code #python #development #webdev #webdevelopment #webstagram #developer #developerslife

At work we're quite mobile since many people change their sitting depending on the project their working on. So dividing our office into small rooms instead of sharing an open space would make our work more difficult. But this month we've decided to add a wall to our office. In the form of a stand, of course! If you attended PyCon, you might've seen it in real life and if you are eagle-eyed, you could've seen that it has two sides - an official and more relaxed one. If you missed that, look for us on IT events! One thing is certain - we're quite excited about this purchase. ;)

Walking your way to success

Time for another #GeekShirtFriday. Wiesiek, our official #pokemontrainer and the biggest #pokemon enthusiast sports yet another piece of #pokemonmerch - this time he's all about the #firepokemons.🔥 And we can't blame him! . . . #geek #geeky #pokemongo #geekshirt #catchthemall #officelife #happy #webdeveloper #webdev #webdesign #website #design #programming #programmer #developerń #websitedesign #programmerslife💻 #programmerslife #coding #development #softwarehouse #poznan #poland #merixstudio #ITindustry

Did you think I forgot about choosing the #GeekShirtFriday of the month? Silly you, how could I? Surprise, surprise, once again the winner is... Wiesiek! His vast collection of geeky shirts never stops amazing me - if not now, then soon he will probably have one for each Pokemon there is. This time he deserves recognition for his dedication to PokemonGo - while many of us treated it as a phase, he's still making his way through town after work to battle with like-minded Pokemon trainers. And judging by the number of killometers he's already walked, soon he can become proffesional athleate. ;)

And that would be it for this month - it may not seem like a lot, but believe me, August was more than busy! So busy, in fact, that there are plenty of job offers on the table! Check out Natalia's article on how to join Merixstudio, send us your CV and who knows, maybe you will be in the next summary!
