The new website of Irish Independent, being consistently the largest selling daily in Ireland, has been launched. Merix, as one of the three project groups, was exclusively responsible for turning provided designs into web standards compliant XHTML/CSS templates.We also contributed to the accessibility and usability of the new website by choosing the most optimal programming solutions assuring easy access to website information also for users with Javascript support turned off. The newly designed website was aimed to increase the usability by allowing easy access to information, intuitive navigation throughout the huge structure and comfortable reading.
Irish Independent made a recognizable effort to meet all Web 2.0 guidelines by implementing popular features like RSS feeds, Most Read and Most Emailed content lists. More of the interesting functionalities are in the development phase.
