Main idea behind this project is to facilitate and speed up the process of searching for relevant information in the internet. Briteclick allows to view search results (from multiple sources) without leaving currently opened website. It is available as a plugin to be used with Firefox or Chrome browsers (under Windows, Mac or Linux). We were responsible for writing whole front-end part (mostly with jQuery) and administration panel system (in Django).

jQuery is the most popular JavaScript library. Thanks to this tool it’s possible to easily create animated elements on web pages, manipulate elements (move, copy, change style), or perform asynchronous requests to the server (AJAX).
Extensibility thanks to the wide plugins selection
Very large selection of plugins (in most cases free of charge) is available for this library. They significantly extend its functionality and speed up development process (no need to waste a lot of time on implementing a feature that was already created by someone else).
Some of the examples are:
- readymade user interface elements (calendars, tabs, modal windows and many others),
- new events (e.g. drag & drop mechanism),
- new animation effects,
- more complex form elements.
What were the reasons behind deciding for jQuery?
We didn’t decide to use this library without a reason. It was preceded by the weeks of analysis. We’re using it for a couple of years already and during that time we managed to fall in love with it.
Biggest advantages of jQuery are:

Each JavaScript library significantly shortens implementation time of complex applications (compared to writing JS code from scratch), however in this case jQuery really stands out from the crowd. - Most popular solution of this type
None of available JavaScript libraries is as popular among developers as jQuery. It’s used by such companies and websites as Google, Microsoft, Amazon, IBM, NBC. What’s more jQuery is also present in readymade solutions, for example in Drupal. - Cross-browser compatibility
Compatibility list declared by library creators covers: Microsoft Internet Explorer from version 6 (year 2001), Mozilla Firefox 2+, Google Chrome 1+, Opera 9.0+ and Safari 3.0+. Furthermore code based on jQuery will also work on mobile platforms, like iPhone (Safari browser), or on Opera Mini browser. - One of the fastest, if not the fastest library
