Spooky Merixstudio is a happy software house - summary of October

6 things that could only happen in October

#1 The best kind of party is a dress-up party

It's Halloween season and we are not above dressing up and celebrating this spooky time! 🎃🎊👻🍹 Last Friday we took over @holahola.poznan, where we looked completely normal and not scary at all - guess who won our costume contest! #halloween #halloweenparty #party #dressup #halloweencostume #happy #friends #officeparty #officelife #lovemyjob #fridaynight #friyay #crazyoffice #fridayparty #scary #scarycostume #webdev #webdeveloper #softwarehouse #poznan #poland #merixstudio

Let's start with the theme of this month - Halloween! This year we decided to go big and not only had a party but also dressed up according to the holiday theme! Maybe the prize for the best costume influenced the number of dressed-up people but who am I to judge! All that matters it the fun everyone had, not who went home with the prize! And I'm not telling that because I lost... A big congratulation to Piotrek for winning - you are truly a sight to behold when you're dressed as a zombie nun!

#2 The equally good kind of party is the Django development party!

Were you with us yesterday during the fourth edition of #DjangoHotspot? If you were, then good for you - it was a good one! 👍Big thanks to speakers for their great presentations and to you for asking questions and networking after hours. To the next time, Django people! #django #djangodevelopment #webdevelopment #event #learning #knowledge #fun #happy #afterhours #networking #softwarehouse #poznan #poland #merixstudio

Well, the title of this part can be misleading - the party happened after the fourth edition of Django Hotspot, which is the star of this segment, but don't you blame me for trying a little continuity!

I can honestly say that this Django Hotspot was truly special - not only thanks to the addition of prizes and pizza but mainly thanks to people that attended it. There were many discussions, a networking after the event, and an overall vibe of combining learning with fun. And that's what Django Hotspot is all about - creating a community around Django development!

#3 It's London, baby!

With the hair stylishly swept to the side, Michał and Rory are ready for the first event of their London adventure. At the moment they are in the beautiful 20 Air Street, taking part in UK - ISRAEL Technology event. And we are not envious at all of that!😉 #startup #event #londonevent #ukstartup #israelstartup #happy #networking #london #londonstartup #webdevelopment #webdesign #softwarehouse #poznan #poland

Michał and Rory might've already been in the very English mood (more on that soon), so their visit to London was no surprise! However, they didn't travel to the tea land to visit museums (or pubs...), but to attend TechDay London! You might've seen a glimpse of it on our Instagram Story, but the whole coverage of this startup-focused adventure will soon be published on our blog. Knowing Michał and how much he likes to talk it's going to be a good one, so stay tuned! ;)

#4 Such a sticky situation!

The star of today's photo is not Anita (although we like her very much!), but the stickers on her laptop! As you can see, she's repping our favorite technologies, fruits (bananas are like gold in our office!), and a variety of inside jokes. Now nobody is going to take someone else's computer by mistake! #sticker #laptopsticker #funny #working #work #focused #happy #atwork #djangohotspot #polishgirl #webdevelopment #webdesign #softwarehouse #poznan #poland #merixstudio

It may sound weird - she's getting excited by stickers, how old is she?!? But just look at them and how cool they are! Our Macbooks obviously look nice on their own, that's the whole shebang with Apple products, but they look even better and more merix'y with the stickers! All of them are created by our talented Designer Paweł - the same one that created all of the wall arts in our office. Among the designs are some cool, "broken down" technology logos for tech geeks, fruits for health nuts, and some inside jokes that are really funny, I swear, but you'll have to be one of us to get them. Speaking of which - have you seen our career page? I recommend checking it out! ;)

#5 English Breakfast of the champions

Today Michał is no longer our Business Developer - for a day he's nothing else but a #birthdayboy 🎁 and a chef! For his team he created nothing else but an #englishbreakfast - talk about being extra! 🍳🥓😍 Happy birthday, Michał, you magnificent, over the top you! 🎉 #birthday #breakfast #birthdaybreakfast #team #happy #officelife #crazyoffice #eggs #saussage #beans #englishcuisine #lovemyjob #happybirthday #extra #webdeveloper #webdesign #softwarehouse #merixstudio

Once again the highlight of this month was produced by Michał - dude is really trying hard to land in our summary! Or just wants to be a good co-worker/friend.... Why else would he celebrate his birthday not with the usual sweets, but with the English breakfast he prepared for his team? There were sausages, eggs, beans - the best fuel for the best of days! This breakfast maybe wasn't full-English, but the people that ate it were for sure full for at least half a day. Happy birthday Michał, you deserve it :)

#6 At work till the late night hours

When you have a conference room that resembles a football pitch, then you have to take advantage of it! Or that's what some of us though while organising a screening of the Poland-Armenia game. ⚽ But that's what friends do - not only stay in the office to together watch a match, but also stay even longer to play foosbal👍#match #polandarmenia #PolandvsArmenia #armeniavspoland #armeniapolska #football #footballmatch #officelife #friends #happy #wewon #afterhours #coworker #lovemyjob #softwarehouse #webdeveloper #merixstudio #poland

You probably know by now that we LOVE our conference room with a grass carpet. Believe me, meetings held there don't feel like meetings - all you need is a blanket, basket with food (or just a regular cup of coffee;)) and you have a picnic. But this month we made a bit different connection - the grass reminded us of football fields, the seating of football stands, and the projector of screens on the stadiums. In conclusion - we simply HAD TO organize a screening of the match between Poland and Armenia. It was FIFA World Cup European Qualifying match after all, so it needed to be watched in style! And I'm not saying that our cheering made Poland won 6:1, but it for sure helped.... ;)

And let's end it on this note - when Merixstudio wishes you well, all your endeavors will succeed! See you next month, when we will be one month closer to Christmas, snow (wishful thinking, girl!), and new year resolutions. Until then follow us on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter - you won't regret it! ;)
