New year, slightly different us - summary of January

January is a weirdly calm month after all the craziness of December. It was rather undisturbed when you think back to all the crazy things we did last year. However, it obviously was not uneventful - we won't allow that! As usual, there were dogs, a sprinkle of geekiness, and food. There was also a bit of mystery and a lot of planning for February. Sounds weird? Let me walk you through it point by point :)

3. Man, what is happening? Another animal appeared in our office, this time a real one! Feta got bored waiting for Anita at home, so she came here and asked if she can clock out for the day.    Ok, I’m starting to repeat myself - WE LIKE DOGS! We like their little visits, their happy faces, and even their little mischiefs. We've been quite sad that January was going to be pupper-less, but luckily we were surprised by the familiar munchkin! Soon Feta will be at our office more frequently that some of our coworkers. ;) This time she only popped up on Friday to remind her best friend Anita that it’s time to go home. She also took advantage of the opportunity to gather few pats and ear scratches as a way to say hello. Let’s just hope that the next visit will be a little longer!

    Since I mentioned Anita, I can’t forget about the way she greeted her coworkers on a cold, January morning! Just imagine that - you are coming to work after the weekend, you are a bit groggy, and want to go back to your warm bed, where no tasks are waiting for you to be finished. Then you see a homemade cupcake on your desk - isn’t it nice? I for sure think so! That’s what you'll get when you start working here - good thing that we also have Multisport memberships to burn this fatty, carby goodness. ;)

    Want to relax? Change a scenery for a little bit! Get crazy and start a fake (I hope it’s fake) fight between two development teams! If you want even more pizazz, do it in front of the toilets, nobody is going to judge you! Well, I’m not sure about the last bit, but that’s what Miłosz did during our visit to… you probably guessed where we were and what we visited, but don’t make me spill the beans! I can just say that the whole company got a lot happier that day. Maybe except Oskar, who got brutally fake-beaten up by his colleague and so-called “friend”. ;)

18. Turns out that today's a Star Wars day. This angry bird (both by name and facial expression) flew to our office dressed as Obi Wan! With it came a mysterious card from @apptension - we can't wait to find out what it's all about!     Those suspiciously loopy ponies were right - friendship IS magic! Or at least that’s our conclusion after we received an Angry Birds toy from Apptension! The stuffed animal seemed not very happy about the Obi Wan Kenobi costume. But, since it made us giggle I don’t see any problem there. However, it was not a usual “Hey, we like you” package - it came with a mysterious note with special instructions. Entertaining and engaging - that’s what a good friendship is all about! Thank you Apptension!

23. The Internet is buzzing with questions about the title of the upcoming Star Wars. What does the Last Jedi mean - is it Luke, Ray, or maybe it means something else?     Our #GeekShirtFriday tag on Instagram is neverending - I don’t even want to think how much money we've collectively spent on geeky clothing. Once again I choose Luiza to be the representative the geeky side of Merixstudio. Girlpower, amiright? But don't think that I'm biased! Just take a look at her Star Wars shirt - it changes colours! Just like there are two sides of the force, there are also dark and light versions of the logo Luiza proudly displays on her clothing. I hope that it’s not a prophecy of her fate!

    Our office was simply flooded with new people. Our Frontend, Backend, and Sales teams are significantly bigger in comparison to the previous year. At least they didn’t feel alone when it comes to asking everyone about their names. ;) We introduced the first person, Joanna, on Facebook - you can learn more about her HERE.
