The whole event was divided into two days during which we participated in the workshop and lectures. To get the most from this meetings we tried to take part in as many meetings as possible that were dedicated to a variety of topics. We were able to do that thanks to the comprehensive program, which included as many as four independent streams:
- Technical,
- Leadership,
- Strategic&Business,
- Workshops.
From a wide range of meetings we want to distinguish the ones that we wouldn’t mind attending again:
- Opening Keynote of Mateusz Kusznierewicz, who described the course of his life and how he achieved successes not only in the sports industry. We learned, among other things, how Mateusz have worked with the innovative idea of electronic frames. Nobody probably expected that his famous jump into the water during the competition changed his life. All the stories of keynote speakers were illustrated by jadzkarysuje.pl

- Tell me a story of Piotr Bucki, who told us a lot of inspiring anecdotes and therefore showed the impact of stories and how we tell them. They are actually one of the better ways to communicate - how you talk reflects our the reception of the audience.
- Emerging Project Management Tools: State of the art 2016 - Maria Barbero, who traveled all the way from Italy, spoke about the tools used in project management. The most interesting for us were the criteria that Maria uses when she selects tools and how she evaluates each of them based on their ability to solve real cases.
- How to deliver quality on time of Niels Malotaux - I think the title speaks for itself. It’s definitely a must for any Project Manager and thanks to Niels no task in their work will be too difficult. At the beginning we got to know some theory. Niels talked among other things about the Deming cycle or specific examples of providing a good product on time.
As everybody knows, the best way to learn is through practice. Therefore the next day we attended workshops, where Niels through simple exercises showed us how to deliver projects on time. 15 people were able to take part of this class, which was a great opportunity to meet other attendees of the conference.
- Integrated Project Management and Control as the new trend in Project Management of Marco Buijnsters, who talked how in the company from the Netherlands has been successfully developing a concept of integrated management of the project. We learned when the approach works and what are its advantages and risks.
- The New Trends in Project Management is about to start and as you can see Kamil and Maciek are quite happy about it! Guys, make a lot of notes, you will have to share with us what you have learned! ;) #pmi #ntpm #conference #projectmanagement #softwarehouse

- During one of the presentations Jan Dirk Hogendoorn & Frank Fonds presented Finext, which caused a great stir among the representatives of other companies. Why? Because it doesn’t have any managers among its employees! Speakers presented us their vision, which consists of teams that are responsible for the performance and where there are no supervisors. Do you think that this company has the opportunity for further development? Well, Frank and John proved that it has!
- TRIZ - Effective Problem Solving - Michał Hałas told us about the TRIZ tool that is used, among others, in cases where the team working on the project can’t find a solution to the problem. The lecture was very interesting mainly because of the many practical exercises.
- Harley Lovegrove led the opening keynote which was definitely worth to attend. Harley was not only talking about how to be a good Change Manager, but he also illustrated it with many great examples. He encouraged everyone to participate in the competitions in which you could win one of his books (unfortunately we didn’t win anything :))
- You’re failing: your method is neither Agile, nor Waterfall - Nader Rad told us about the potential chaos that may result from confusion between Waterfall and Agile methods. The presentation helped us to understand how to create combination of these management systems and hot to make it work and be beneficial.
- What marketing can add to Project Management - Jacek Wizmur-Szymczak talked about marketing tools which are very similar to those used in project management. We left this lecture feeling very uplifted - in the long run we are all working on communication, relationships, inspiration and establishing goals, which are the key in every project.
- From Waterfall to Agile: Managing Disruptive Change without Disrupting the Business - Odd Sandbekkhaug told us how the company firmly rooted in Waterfall managed to introduce Agile in their work. At first the idea seemed unreal, but the results of the changes that Odd presented left us really impressed.
Between days of intense work we had time to relax. We were invited to the seaside tavern "Bollywood", where all attendees of the conference could drink few beers and dance. We also had the opportunity to watch a salsa dance show, after which we even learn how to dance!
The PMI conference turned out to be a great success. We surely want to attend it next year, so all we have to say for now is see you soon!
