Man, technologies and... toothpick. Golden Marketing Conference 2015

Golden Marketing Conference and Reklama360 took place at Poznań International Fair on 29-30 September 2015. We had our representatives at that event - Monika and Jadzia, who are responsible for GoDealla.pl here at Merixstudio. The knowledge must be shared, so we prepared our coverage from that day.

At GMC you could meet such polish marketing stars as Natalia Hatalska, Michał Wawrzyniak or Paweł Tkaczyk. There was no way to take part in every speech (which was brilliant for sure), so we had to choose a few. Feminine solidarity spoke to us and we decided to Natalia Hatalska lecture - "What next? The most imporant trends in 2016". It was worth it! The blogger shared with us her vast knowledge and also .....emotions like compassion, joy and admiration. Do you think that it's impossible to cry at conference? Nonsense... ;-)

The most important trends in 2016

During the speech not only prognosis for the next year were disscused, but also current trends that are now really popular at foregin market. We hope that it'll include polish market. What needs to point out according to Natalia Hatalska?

Video domination

At the beginning the speaker talked about the growing role of videos shared on social media. Users don't always read posts and can easily overlook static, "normal" image. They focus on short videos (that are automatically played). Once YouTube had an edge, now it's Facebook. Zuckerberg himself said that the most important thing now is video. If you want to draw the attention of users and potential customers, make movies!

1:1 contact

Some time ago there was a rule of social media: "the more friends, the better". Over the years, it changed. Users are looking for some place where they can hide despite the fact that they are in a big network. This is the reason why apps that enable you to define and limit some private sections (like WhatsApp or Snapchat) are becoming more and more popular. If you run our own business, you should consider the Snapchat profile ;-) If users wanto to share photos to each others, there is no question of imposing on somebody or intrusive bombarding with ads. A good solution is to contact with users in 1:1 model. Social media users more and more often are embarrassed to ask questions, post at forums or ask publicly for help. We think that is is caused by relentless wave of hate that might fall to you in so many social media profiles. Therefore, sometimes we prefer not to speak, because we are afraid of that hate. So another advice for marketers is to individualize communication with the client.

It's not all about the smartphones

Despite the fact that "smart" phones for sure are the most popular and the most used device, we cannot think that they will displace different devices. Users still using and will be using computers. Returing to videos, people are watching them on smartphones. But that what reqiring greater focus, such as shoppingm transfers or writing emails, we still doing using stationary devices. There is nothing like keyboard and mouse :-) Hatalska also highlighted the increasing popularity of wearables. They have attracted the attention of practical people and those who simply want to look fashionable as well. So it's good idea to remember about that kind of devices. You can read more about wearables here.

Virtual reality

The fact that we spend a lot of time in virtual reality doesn't surprise anyone anymore. But don't you think that there is a contradiction here? Increasingly, we are looking for something real in an unreal world. Sounds familiar? Someone has a hit on that idea and came up with special glasses with which we can see reality a little differently... The Oculus Roft and Google Cardboard are blockbusters now. The most common use of virtual reality we can see in games and direct marketing. It's time for real actions improving the unreal world. We'll see whether such treatments will be profitable ;-)

Emotions

Our emotions run high when Hatalsa showed us advertising movies. There was a spot of Boston Dynamics about a robot that has been created to traverse even the most difficult areas.

What are your feelings after watching this film? Many people, including Hatalska, seized emotion that perfectly summed husband of the speaker - he said "Natalia, are you sad when you drop the kettle?" ;-)

Spot, during which one of us spun tear in the eye, presented a Samsung application, Backup Memory, that helps people suffering from Alzheimer's disease and their loved ones. We think that don't need any comments. Look and judge it for yourself:

During the lecture, the most commonly used words were "technology" and "man". The first one can't be a surprise, while the second one requires us to stop for a moment and think about that... Like Natalia Hatalska said "the main reason for the changes are real needs of customers". Redardless of what product or service we launch, we have to remember that we are doing it for the man. The one who has the need and who is very often guided by emotions. This is why we all should remember that "technology is for people, not the other way round".

360 advertising - what's trendy?

Getting the best of our knowledge on trends didn't end on a Hatalska lecture. But inspired and excited by this speech we went to the Reklama 360 (International Trade Fair of Advertising Goods and Services) to check the current box office in trade.

What particularly caught our attention were... modern toothpicks! These are not traditional wooden stocks, but a thin sheet of platic with a minty taste. Nevertheless, it's a great way of advertising - it's difficult to place a logo on the packaging of usual stick, but due to the bigger size of Quick Pick, its easily fits not only the logo, but also contact information. For the curious: it's no that easy to use modern toothpick! One of us tried out and saw something that don't want to... "Is that blood?! Shrek you will die!" :-D

Print has still stron position in advertising. Therefore, during the fair you could fiand exhibitor providing all kinds of printing services: from the creation of posters and business cards, by printing logos on bags and gadgets, to the creation of objects using 3D printing technology.

We must admit that we are satisfied with both the lecture and whole trade fair and also the organization of the event. A really big plus were such thing as signs of buildings and kind service. The positive for us was also the introduction of modern networking solutions like pleasing "handpiece" that helps with contacts with other participants of conference. See you at the next Golden Marketing Conference!
