Django Hotspot #5 - initiative for the Django Development community

Django Hotspot is an initiative that gathers the Django/Python community by organising meetups for working with those technologies. Created at the end of 2016, with each new event it gathers more and more people that are willing to learn new Django-related things and share their experiences with each other.

What does it mean to be a part of the Django community?

As the name suggests it, the main focus of Django Hotspot is obviously Django Development. The the last four events touched on such topics as :

  • hosting web applications in AWS,
  • Django Channels,
  • Docker usage,
  • Django project configuration for different environments,
  • end-to-end tests,
  • Django app debugging,
  • computing services,
  • Neo4j graph database.

The events gather speakers from different companies (heck, even different cities!) with a variety of expertise. Anita and Maciek, organisers of Django Hotspot, had the main goal of creating a community of like-minded people that are interested in everything related to Python/Django. You can create web applications or websites, be a CEO or startup founder - if you have to do with Django, those events are for you.

During the last year, Django Hotspot grew significantly and doubled the number of attendees. With that came the longer networking time, which, let's be honest, on many events is close to non-existent. And that's what it should be all about - creating a community! Anita and Maciek are also on the constant lookout when it comes to new speakers - if you have something to say about Django, send them a message via an email or directly to the Facebook page!

What's in store for Django Hotspot #5?

The fifth edition of Django Hotspot is going to happen this Thursday (22nd February 2018), so be quick to get your ticket! Here's what's in store for the event:

  • The first speaker will be Paweł Krzyżaniak, a Senior Senior Software Engineer that has over twelve years of experience in programming, eight of which were dedicated to working with startups. Paweł is going to talk about creating the DRF Tweaks library, which is especially helpful when working with the Django Rest Framework.
  • The next speakers are Software Quality Assurance Specialist Martyna Wilkońska and JavaScript Developer Przemysław Gosek. And if you're not new to web development community in Poznań, then you probably know who that they are co-organisers of Django Girls Poznań. This time they are going to talk about the ways we can improve our productivity. Let's be honest, with this type of weather probably plenty of us need some help. ;)
  • What would Django Hotspot be without some networking and a free beer? After presentations, there will be time to talk about work, projects, and every other thing you'll find interesting. With so many smart Django Developers maybe you will find some help with some bug that's ruining your mood?

Sounds interesting? Of course, it does, every presentation and every speaker are chosen with great care! There's nothing left to make some time in your calendar for a visit at Nova Piwiarnia - we'll be waiting for you with free beer and free knowledge!
